If it’s your first time reading… this year’s blog series for Chapter 34 is all about minding my business (whatever pertains to me).

Install #7 of the blog is dedicated to raising the kiddos, as a mother they are a huge part of my day-to-day life.

Happy Friday 13th, how ironic is it that this is being posted on Friday the 13th, because parenting can be down right scary at times!

The uncertainty of whether you’re getting it right, what if I get it wrong and I’m the reason my kids aren’t successful at life?! What if something happens to my child, I don’t want them to get hurt at school, what if my child gets bullied, what if my child is a bully?! Scary right?

So many different stages, changes in personalities of our little humans, the responsibilities that come with parenting can be a bit much… like some of us did our best to prepare but there is no amount preparation to get you ready for parenthood. Thank God for books and parenting courses, but sheesh!!!

I knew I wanted to be the best Mommy ever to my children, but I didn’t realize how hard that would be until that first day home from the hospital. There’s so much that go into being the “perfect mom’ and I realized that wasn’t something I would live up to.

Being a major example and influence in my children’s (daughters at that) lives weigh heavy on me as a mother. Like it’s one of my top priorities especially at this age group. I know I’m not the best example, like honestly I wish I was perfect first and then had kids lol that way I get everything right the first try. I’m still learning, maturing/growing in the Lord, unlearning, and ultimately growing from my own childhood experiences. I apologize a lot and communicate with them… because I know their feelings matter and they should know and understand I’m human and I won’t always get it right. Doesn’t take away from the fact that I don’t want to do no wrong lol SCARY?!

This Mommy isn’t perfect, but I serve the perfect FATHER and He is their father just as much as He’s mine! So Parents we have an example of the perfect parent to help us along the way. He reminded me that when I’m weak, He is strong. With His help I can do anything and that one day I’ll be a master at mothering. I’m currently in the training stages… I’ve got the best instructor, so I’m not worried!

I want to share two resources that have been helpful during my learning process:

I just need to be consistent with applying the concepts that work for my household… which may not look like what someone else is doing or did. That’s their business right and what we doing “minding our business (our household)” alright now let’s get to it!
